NEW YORK – The UConn men's golf team had a major impact on the BIG EAST Conference on the golf course when it rejoined the league for the 2020-21 season, capturing the conference championship.
The Huskies made an impression on the league in the classroom as well.
Six of the Huskies on the 2020-21 golf roster were named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team – seniors Finn Boynton (Milford, Conn.) and Rodrigo Sanchez (Santo Domingo, D.R.), junior Jared Nelson (Rutland, Vt.), sophomore Logan Broyles (Mendon, Vt.), and freshmen Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) and Caleb Manuel (Topsham, Me.).
In order to be named to the league's All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters of academic work, earning at least 18 credits.
The six honorees bring the total of UConn golfers named to conference all-academic teams to 72 in 14 seasons under head coach Dave Pezzino.
