Golfers Set for Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The UConn men's golf team returns to action this week with the Golfweek / Stifel Spring Challenge begin played at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
The three-day tournament starts with 18 holes on Monday followed by rounds two and three on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Each round on the par 72, 7,126-yard course will feature split tee times off holes 1 and 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The Huskies will roll out a lineup of junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT), freshman Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ), sophomores Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) and Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) and senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) with sophomore Matt Costello (Tauton, MA) playing as an individual.
The group will tee off in this week's event with the likes of Evansville, George Washington, New Orleans, West Georgia, Fairleigh Dickinson, Charleston Southern, Georgia State, Marshall, Sacred Heart, William & Mary, UAB, South Carolina Upstate, Ohio, Queens University of Charlotte and Jacksonville State.
The Huskies are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational where they got a fifth-place finish from Sawka who was under par in all three rounds and finished seven-under on the leaderboard. Sawka improved his per round average to 70.5 on the year and now owns five top 10 finishes on the season.
Korn is coming off his best outing of the season, posting a season low tournament score of 215 while tying for 30th in the competitive field. Huang also posted a season-best tournament score, carding a 215 as well to sit at 30th on the leaderboard with Korn.
Following this week's event, the Huskies will have The Rutherford Invitational left on the slate in the march-up to the BIG EAST Championships in early May.
