Despite the narrow margin on the scoreboard. the Huskies dictated play with possession and their scoring chances.
UConn outshot the River Hawks 18-5 and drew seven penalty corners to just three for Lowell.Â
Freshman Sofia Ugo scored the lone tally a couple minutes into the second quarter to give the Huskies the lead. It was the second goal of the season for the Argentinian and the second-straight game that the Bueno Aires native has scored.

The UConn defense was stellar when it needed to be on Sunday. Cheyenne Sprecher made two saves including a massive one towards the end of the first half. After the Huskies earned a penalty corner, a mistake allowed the River Hawks to transition leaving Nanne Eijkman and Sprecher on the wrong side of a 4-on-2. Eijkman was able to disrupt a pass in the circle, allowing Sprecher to deny a shot attempt and get the Huskies out of danger.
