Huskies and Buckeyes End in Tie

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Huskies skate to a tie vs. no.11 Ohio State Friday, October 14. Sophomore Logan Terness made a career high 43 total saves to keep the Buckeyes scoreless.
From the first puck drop Ohio State attacked the Huskies peppering Logan Terness with shots. Terness and the Huskies defense stood strong throughout the period holding the Buckeyes scoreless. The Huskies would be forced to play a man down late in the first period as Ryan Tverberg would be called for a hooking penalty with one minute remaining in the first period.
UConn would kill off the penalty at the end of the first and beginning of the second period to go back to even strength. In the second period, the Huskies would tally five total penalties including two towards the end of the second period. UConn's penalty kill would continue to be dominant, preventing Ohio State from getting on the board. With two men in the box, the Huskies would be forced to play five on three hockey to start the third period.
To start the third period, the Huskies would kill off both penalties shifting momentum towards UConn. UConn would use the momentum built off the penalty kill but goaltender Jakub Dobes would hold the Huskies scoreless making 20 saves.
With both teams scoreless after three periods of Hockey, the teams would head into sudden death overtime. In overtime, neither team was able to generate any real scoring chances, with both goaltenders standing their ground and limiting second chance opportunities. Heading into the shootout, UConn would send Ryan Tverberg, Matthew Wood and Andrew Lucas, but all three would be denied. Ohio Sates Travis Treloar would sink the goal followed by a Jakub Dobes save to give the Buckeyes the shootout victory.
