Huskies Beat Providence for 4th Straight Win

STORRS, Conn. - UConn women's volleyball took home the victory over Providence in three sets to improve to 10-10 on the season. Senior Caylee Parker led the way for the Huskies finishing with 15 kills and 10 digs.
To begin the first set, Providence would start strong jumping to an early 6-2 lead. Following a service error by Providence, UConn would score seven unanswered points led by freshman Brenna Wyman with two aces. Following a Providence counter, UConn would take a 10-8 lead forcing the Friars to take a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, UConn would not let up as they would continue to score in a variety of ways. UConn would eventually take the first set by a final of 25-17. Jasmine Davis and Caylee Parker led the way in set one as both would finish with five kills. Davis was unstoppable as she would finish with a .714 hitting percentage as well.
To start the second set, UConn and providence would trade points with both teams preventing one another from gaining any momentum. After a quick 3-0 scoring run by the Huskies, Providence would take a timeout trailing 12-9. Coming out of the timeout, kills from Caylee Parker, Allie Garland and Kennadie Jake-Turner would force the Friars to take another timeout. UConn's lead in the second set would prove to be too much for Providence as the Huskies would take set two by a final of 25-14. Leading the way for UConn in set two was Caylee Parker with five kills, followed by Allie Garland and Kennadie Jake-Turner with four.
Using the momentum gained from the first two sets, UConn would look to take set three for the match victory. Even with Providence jumping out to an early lead, UConn would continue fighting and take an 11-10 lead in the set forcing a Providence timeout. The Huskies would not let up as they would eventually come away with the set victory by a final of 25-13 and take home the match victory. Senior Caylee Parker finished with 15 kills, followed by Jasmine Davis and Allie Garland with eight a piece.

The Huskies will remain at home as they will welcome Butler University to Storrs on Friday October 21. The game between UConn and Butler is set to begin at 6:30pm and can be streamed on FloSports.
