Huskies Set To Host Bulldogs

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set for a BIG EAST battle as they will host Butler University, Friday October 21. The game is set to begin at 6:30pm.
UConn enters the matchup having won four straight Big East games to improve to a record of 10-10 overall, and 4-5 in conference play. As the season begins to wind down, the conference tournament picture is still wide open. The top six teams in the standings will travel to Omaha Nebraska for the post season tournament. Currently Butler holds the sixth and final spot, with UConn right behind them in seventh.
Leading the way for the Huskies is senior Caylee Parker. Parker has consistently been one of UConn's best players posting 243 total kills, while averaging three kills and four points per set. Accompanying Parker at the top of the leaderboard is Jasmine Davis and Madi Whitmire. Davis currently has 213 total kills and is averaging three points and kills per set. Whitmire has been a steady presence for UConn, as she has 733 total assists on the season, and is averaging 10 assists per set.
Scouting Butler
Butler enters the matchup vs. UConn posting a 10-10 overall record and a 4-4 record in conference play. Butler is coming off a 1-1 weekend which featured a 3-1 victory over Seton Hall and a 3-0 loss to St. Johns. Leading the way for the Bulldogs is Mariah Gunze with 229 total kills. The Bulldogs are also led by Amina Shackelford with 195 total kills, and Cora Taylor with 609 total assists.
UConn and Butler have faced off two times in the team's history, with both teams having won one game. The last matchup between the teams came November 18 of 2021 which ended with a 3-0 victory in favor of Butler.
