Huskies Wrap Fall at Brown Invite

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule over the weekend, taking part in the Brown Invitational and facing Rhode Island, Dartmouth and Boston University in blind dual matches over the three days.
"This was our last tournament of the fall season, and it had some very strong teams in attendance," said Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "Maria led the way this weekend, going 2-0 in singles and dominating her doubles match with Olivia against URI. Also having a nice weekend was senior captain Caroline Cook. She went 2-0 in her singles matches, beating Dartmouth and URI."
"I am very happy with our fall tournament results," stated Marshall. "The team really is a very close unit, and we made some great strides in our personal and team development."
Sophomore Maria Constantinou (Nicosia, Cyrpus) was unbeaten on the weekend posting a pair of singles wins, beating Elizabeth Fahrmeier of Dartmouth in three sets, 3-6, 7-6, 10-2 and Navya Vadlamudi of BU, 6-3, 7-5. She also got a doubles win, teaming with classmate Olivia Wright (Glen Allen, VA) to win over URI's Valentina Cvackova and Sophie Herrman, 6-0 and 6-1.
Senior Caroline Cook (Naples, FL) won twice in singles, beating Nadia Rajan of URI, 6-3, 6-1, and Dartmouth's Millie Swaffer-Selff, 6-4, 6-3.
