Field Hockey Set For Rematch At BIG EAST Tournament

NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 14 UConn field hockey team (11-6, 5-2) will travel to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA on Wednesday, November 2nd for the BIG EAST Tournament Championship. This will be the 32nd time in program history that the Huskies will be competing for the BIG EAST Champion title.
The team has been led on the attack by freshmen Sol Simone and Julia Bressler. Simone has twice been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. She has two goals, seven assists, and 11 points on the season. While Bressler, who has been named BIG EAST Offesnive Player of the Week, has scored seven goals, had one assist, and amassed 15 points.
Morgan Kaufmann and Aiyi Young have played a crucial role for the Huskies in the midfield all season. They've each scored one goal for the UConn offense.
Senior back, Claire Jandewerth, who earned honorable mention in the BIG EAST weekly honors for her goals against Temple and No. 2 Maryland, has been an invaluable member of the team this season, starting in all 17 games. She's scored four goals, had four assists, and has tallied 12 points.
Cheyenne Sprecher, veteran UConn goalkeeper, has been a brick wall for the Huskies in net this year. She has recorded five shutouts this season, with a 75.8% save percentage. She has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week three times this season and has been named the NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week.
UConn will face Liberty University on Friday, November 4th at 4:04 p.m. In their previous matchup earlier this season, the Flames shutout the Huskies in a 0-4 game at home in Storrs, CT. The winner of this semi-final game will advance to the BIG EAST championship game on Sunday, November 6th for a chance to become BIG EAST Champions.
