Huskies to Host Kutztown in Exhibition Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team hosts Division II Kutztown in an exhibition Sunday in the XL Center at 1 p.m.
The game can be seen on linear channel CW20 or streamed on fox61.com or the FOX61 News app. It will also be available on Fox61+ through Amazon Fire TV or Roku. The game will also be broadcast through the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (97-9 ESPN).
UConn is ranked sixth in both the AP and WBCA preseason polls.
The Huskies were picked as the BIG EAST Conference favorites in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Five Huskies earned preseason BIG EAST honors. Ayanna Patterson was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year. Junior Aaliyah Edwards, sophomore Caroline Ducharme and sophomore Azzi Fudd were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team while graduate student Dorka Juhász was tabbed as Preseason Honorable Mention.
Sunday will be the first chance for UConn fans to see three newcomers in action. The Huskies added graduate transfer Lou Lopez Sénéchal from Fairfield as well as freshman Inês Bettencourt, Ice Brady and Ayanna Patterson.
UConn will be without junior Paige Bueckers and freshman Ice Brady this year as both suffered injuries in the preseason.
Kutztown is ranked 23rd in the D2SIDA Preseason Poll. The Golden Bears finished 2021-22 with an overall record of 26-7 and competed in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history. Kutztown faced Fordham in an exhibition last Thursday, falling 79-48 to the Rams.
UConn officially begins the 2022-22 season vs. Northeastern next Thursday at 7 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. Tickets to the game are available HERE.
