Ryan Wheeler Signs With Iowa Heartlanders

STORRS, Conn. - UConn senior Ryan Wheeler has signed his first professional contract and will join the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL for the remainder of this season. The Heartlanders are the ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the NHL and the Iowa Wild of the AHL.
Wheeler appeared in all 36 games this season and finished with two goals and four assists and was a +5 on the season. He blocked 42 shots, second on the club.
During his four-year career in Storrs, Wheeler played in 108 games and had four goals and eight assists. He finished as a +7 over his career and blocked 78 total shots
