Softball takes down DePaul in game two

Storrs, CT – UConn (17-11) out-muscles DePaul in game two, 7-3. They win their third straight conference series.
Elise Sokolsky got the start for the Huskies in the circle. She went the distance pitching a stellar seven innings and struck out eight.
The Blue Demons jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top half of the first. The Huskies quickly responded off the bat of Jana Sanden. She hit a two run shot to right center to make it 3-2 DePaul after one inning.
Sokolsky would settle in after the first, shutting down the DePaul hitters only giving up three hits for the rest of the game.
Yesterday's hero, Briana Marcelino would tie the game in the second with a sac fly scoring Lexi Hastings. Marcelino delivered once again in the fourth with a two run homer to give the Huskies a 5-3 lead. This is Marcelino's fifth homer of the season.
UConn would add two more insurance runs in the fifth extending the lead to 7-3. Sanden doubled to score Rosie Garcia. Hastings reached on an error, scoring pinch runner Giuliana Abruscato.
The Huskies now move to 7-1 in conference play and will look to complete their second series sweep of the season tomorrow at 11:00am.
