UConn's Kondelik Named Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward

STORRS, Conn. - The Hockey East Association began announcing their postseason awards on Wednesday, as voted by the men's league's 11 head coaches, with UConn senior Jachym Kondelik (Budejovic, Czech Republic) being named the Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward award. The awards come as part of the celebration of the 37th annual Hockey East Tournament, which begins tonight.
Kondelik appeared in all 33 games this season and blocked 18 shots on the season from his center position. He led the team in scoring with 32 points on 12 goals and 20 assists, In the face-off circle, he won at a 52.1 percent clip (366-336) on the year. Kondelik becomes the first Huskies to win the league's top defensive forward award.
The leauge will announce the 2022 all-star teams on Friday morning at 11am.
The Huskies will play host to the Boston University Terriers on Saturday afternoon at the XL Center in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
