STORRS, Conn. – UConn men's soccer head coach Chris Gbandi and the team have announced their captains for the 2022 season. Juniors Jayden Reid and Guillaume Vacter and sophomore Kyle Briere will lead the Huskies this upcoming season.
In a new era for the Huskies, under first year head coach Chris Gbandi, young but experienced players will lead the UConn squad this upcoming season. Rising Junior Jayden Reid from Elmont, New York, made an appearance in all 16 games for the Huskies starting 11 of them and logging 1,095 minutes. Over the course of the season, Reid posted three goals and 5 assists.
Rising junior Guillaume Vacter will bring much needed experience to the Huskies having played in and started all 16 games. The defender from Paris, France, will look to anchor a defense that allowed on average one goal per game and for the season only allowed 16 total goals. Vacter would also make his presence felt on the offensive side of the ball, scoring one goal with five total shots.
Sophomore Kyle Briere will look to be a key voice in the young Huskies locker room. Briere will look to step in and fill the void left by departing graduate student Jahmali Waite. As a freshman Briere was the ultimate teammate, doing whatever the team asked of him, and continued to work on his craft day in and day out.
