STORRS, Conn. - The No. 15 UConn baseball team (38-8, 12-1 BIG EAST) edged Creighton (25-13, 10-3 BIG EAST), 3-1, in a pitcher's duel on Friday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.

UConn catcher Matt Donlan broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh with a two-run shot to the opposite field to retake the lead for the Huskies.

Starting pitcher Austin Peterson fired 8.0 innings with just one unearned run allowed and nine strikeouts for the Huskies to move to 9-0 on the season.

The right-hander got into trouble in the fifth with runners at second and third and no outs. The Chesterton, Ind. native induced an RBI groundout before getting a strike out and pop up to keep the game tied, 1-1.

Dylan Tebrake was excellent for the Bluejays, firing a complete game and struck out 13 in a gutsy effort.

The Huskies got on the board in the third after Bryan Padilla (single) moved from first to third on an infield single from David Smith. Stock followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.

The Huskies and Bluejays resume the series on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. on CW20.
