Three Former Huskies Compete in 2022 World Cup

STORRS, Conn. - Three former UConn field hockey players are set to compete in the 15th FIH World Cup, beginning on July 1 in Spain and the Netherlands.

Sophie Hamilton (England), Cecile Pieper (Germany) and Roisin Upton (Ireland) have all qualified for the event with their home countries.

Pieper and Upton will compete against each other in Group A with their first matches on July 2, while Hamilton and the Brits are in Pool B and play their first match on July 3.

Each team will play three matches in pool play with the pool winners automatically advancing to the Quarterfinals.

Semifinals will be played on July 16 with the medal matches taking place on July 17.

Matches from the Quarterfinals will be played in Terrassa, Spain and Amsterdam, Netherlands, with the semifinals and medal matches being played in Spain.
