STORRS, Conn. – The UConn rowing program and head coach Jennifer Sanford announced the hiring of Audrey Kelley, a 2016 UConn graduate and former captain and rowing student-athlete, as an assistant coach.
Kelley returns to UConn following a four-year stint as a coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Delaware rowing team. From 2012 through 2016, Kelley was a UConn rower – eventually becoming team captain, while also serving on UConn Husky Reach. She graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts, focusing on Human Development and Family Studies.
"I am very excited about bringing Audrey home to Storrs," stated Sanford. "She has a lot to offer to our staff and our team and will be taking on a major roll with recruiting. Audrey is a Husky at heart and as the program continues to develop, she will have a major impact on elevating the team into the national spotlight in the future."
In the years prior to her stint at the University of Delaware, Kelley served as a coach for the Middlebury College men and women's crew teams.
"I'm so excited to be coming home to UConn Rowing," commented Kelley. "There is a real, renewed energy in the program and I'm ready to help build off that momentum. I look forward to working with the current Huskies and bringing in new classes of top-talent to Storrs. The support for current and future student-athletes has never been better and we are set up for success."
"I'd like to thank Delaware Head Coach Kevin Gruber and the entire Blue Hen family for four great years and helping me become a more well-rounded coach. I'd also like to thank Coach Jen Sanford and the entire hiring committee for supporting me through the hiring process. Looking forward to finding speed together again. Go Huskies!"
With the addition of Kelley, head coach Jen Sanford has now finalized her coaching staff for the 2022-23 season. Kelley joins, Allyson Zoppa, and Rachel Signor as coaches of the program.
