STORRS, Conn. - UConn Track and Field rising sophomore Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario) has qualified to represent team Canada at the Under 20 championships in Cali Colombia from August 1 to 6.
Thomas had a very successful season as a freshman at UConn while primarily running distance events and relays. Thomas had one of her best runs of the year at University of Virginia as she would set a new PR in the 5,000-meter race by nearly 35 seconds.
Thomas will bring coach Lindsay Crevoiserat as her personal coach to the championships. Thomas is one of 33 total athletes and one of just 19 women selected to represent team Canada and will be running the 3000m race.
Thomas has run the 3000m twice this year, most recently running it at the Bell Canadian U20-Senior-Para Track and Field Championships finishing with a time of 9:26.50. In the 2021 championships team Canada earned two bronze medals. Heading into the 2022 championships, Thomas and Team Canada will look to challenge and compete at the highest level.
