Gallagher, Dana & Donlan Headed to Pro Ball

LOS ANGELES - Pat Gallagher and Casey Dana were selected on the final day of the 2022 MLB Draft while Matt Donlan went undrafted but signed a free agent contract.
Gallagher was selected in the 11th round by the Toronto Blue Jays and Dana was picked by the Los Angeles Angels in the 16th round.Â
Donlan was signed by the Boston Red Sox moments after the 20th and final round of the draft concluded.Â
All three guys were instrumental parts in the Huskies winning a program record 50 games, dual BIG EAST Championships, College Park Regional champs and won the first-ever game in Super Regional play at No. 2 Stanford.
Gallagher went 11-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 17 starts. He struck out 110 batters in 103.0 innings and got better and better as the year went on. Gallagher won all three of his postseason starts with seven inning performances against Creighton in the BIG EAST Championship, vs. No. 15 Maryland in the College Park Regional and 6.1 strong frames at No. 2 Stanford. The Leominster, Mass. native earned First Team All-BIG EAST status and First Team ABCA All-Northeast region.
Dana joined the Huskies as a graduate transfer in 2022 and was an impact bat in the middle of the order. The Montgomery, N.Y. native earned Second Team All-BIG EAST accolades with a .313 AVG with 82 hits, 21 doubles and drove in 61 runs. The right fielder led the team with 19 multi-RBI games and tied for the team lead with Donlan with 12 home runs. Dana led the nation and set a UConn single-season record with 12 sacrifice flies on the season.
Donlan also played his first season at UConn in 2022 and was a key cog behind the plate for the Huskies. The Guilford, Conn. native was the Most Outstanding Player in the College Park Regional while also capturing First Team All-BIG EAST honors. Donlan played in 61 games and caught the final 38 games behind the plate for the Huskies. The catcher threw out 22 base stealers and picked off four others. At the plate, Donlan provided 12 home runs while hitting .260 with 47 runs scored and 60 runs batted in.Â
