No. 4 Huskies to Host Georgetown Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The fourth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (14-2, 7-0 BIG EAST) returns to the XL Center to host Georgetown (8-8, 1-6) on Sunday at 4 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
Sunday is Superhero Day – youth superhero capes will be given away at the UConn Marketing table. The Huskies will recognize medical professionals from UConn Health as superheroes in our community.
Head coach Geno Auriemma and sophomore guard Azzi Fudd returned to action as the Huskies beat St. John's, 82-52, last Wednesday. Graduate student Lou Lopez Senechal led the Huskies with 20 points while fellow graduate student Dorka Juhász notched 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. UConn shot 62.3 percent from the field, the highest mark for the team this season.
Fudd notched 14 games in her first game since Dec. 4. She missed UConn's previous eight games with a knee injury.
UConn is 49-6 all-time vs. Georgetown, including 46-3 under Geno Auriemma. The Huskies and Hoyas faced off twice last season: a 90-49 UConn win in Storrs on Feb. 20 and an 84-38 UConn win in the BIG EAST Tournament on March 5. Sophomore Azzi Fudd's mother, Katie Smrcka-Duffy Fudd, played at Georgetown.
Georgetown fell to Butler, 72-48, last Wednesday. Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas with 16 points in the game. This season, Ransom leads Georgetown with 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Head coach James Howard is in his sixth season at Georgetown.
UConn's game vs. DePaul, originally scheduled for Jan. 8, has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. Patrons with tickets and parking passes to the original game will be able to use them on the makeup date.
