No. 5 UConn, No. 21 Villanova to Face off Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (19-2, 11-0 BIG EAST) plays its fourth game in nine days when the Huskies host No. 21 Villanova (18-3, 9-1) Sunday at 2 p.m. in the XL Center. The game will air on CBS Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
Sunday is UConn's Play4Kay Pink Game. The Huskies will wear pink-trimmed shooting shirts and uniforms. The team will honor breast cancer survivors throughout the game. Fans coming to the game are encouraged to wear pink.
The Huskies posted an 84-67 win at Tennessee on Thursday. Graduate student Lou Lopez Sénéchal led UConn with 26 points. Junior Aaliyah Edwards notched 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists vs. the Lady Vols. Junior Nika Mühl notched her ninth double-digit assist game with 14 at Tennessee.
UConn is 39-18 all-time vs. Villanova. The teams last faced off in the 2022 BIG EAST Tournament championship game, a 70-40 win for the Huskies. Villanova beat UConn, 72-69, last season in Hartford. It was UConn's first regular-season loss to a conference opponent since 2013.
Villanova last played on Friday, Jan. 20, a 73-57 win at Creighton. Maddy Siegrist became Villanova's all-time leading scorer with 23 points in the game. Siegrist leads the nation with 28.5 points per game. She also leads Villanova with 9.6 rebounds per game. Head coach Denise Dillon is in her third season at Villanova.
