No. 5 Huskies to Take on Providence Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (20-2, 12-0 BIG EAST) takes a short trip to Providence (13-10, 4-8) Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
The Huskies gutted out a 63-58 win over No. 21 Villanova on Sunday. Redshirt junior Aubrey Griffin led UConn with 19 points while graduate student Dorka Juhász had 16 points and seven rebounds. After the first quarter, UConn struggled offensively in the second and third. Villanova led by two going into the fourth quarter. The game was UConn's fourth in nine days.
UConn is 43-21 all-time vs. Providence and has won the last 31 matchups between the teams. Last season in Providence, the Huskies narrowly won, 69-61.
Providence is coming off a 50-48 win over Xavier last Saturday. Grace Efosa led the Friars with 16 points. This season, Janai Crooms leads the team with 11.9 points while Olivia Olsen is averaging 11.1 per game. Head coach Jim Crowley is in his seventh season at Providence.
Following Wednesday's game, UConn returns to the XL Center this Sunday to host No. 1 South Carolina in a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Championship game. The game is sold out and fans with tickets are encouraged to wear WHITE for a White Out. Sunday's game will air on FOX.
