MSOC welcomes Xavier to Storrs on Saturday afternoon

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (8-6-1) will close out their regular season slate against the Xavier Musketeers (6-3-5) on Saturday, October 28 at Morrone Stadium. UConn will honor seven seniors, Clayton Knibbs, Adil Iggoute, Jack Loura, Okem Chime, Kyle Briere, Tyler Fidrych, and Guillaume Vacter prior to the start of the match. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm. The Huskies are coming off a win at Creighton last weekend, securing their spot in the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament. This is the first time since 2019 UConn has qualified for the conference tournament and the first time under second year head coach, Chris Gbandi. Junior forward Scott Testori has been on fire for the Huskies scoring four goals in the last three games. The Connecticut native leads UConn in points this season with 18 (7 goals, 4 assists).
Xavier is coming into Saturday's match in first place in the Midwest Division in the BIG EAST. The Musketeers and the Huskies are both fighting for seeding positions in the conference tournament. Xavier can secure the Midwest Division regular season title with a win while UConn has an opportunity to host a first round game with a result on Saturday. These programs have only met twice with Xavier winning both matches.
