STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (5-3-4, 2-1-2 BIG EAST) suffered its first defeat in BIG EAST play with a 1-0 setback against Xavier (10-2-3, 3-0-3 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium in front of 1378.

After giving up the only goal of the match in the 31st minute, the Huskies had a few chances for an equalizer but were unable to find it.

In the waning moments of the second half, Cara Jordan nearly tied the game on a cross to the back post but her shot missed wide.

Chioma Okafor nearly had an equalizing moment in the second half with her back to goal she received a pass turned and fired a left-footed shot but it was blocked away and cleared out.

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney continued her strong play in goal with a season-high nine saves on the afternoon and a few great plays on set pieces inside the six.

Next up, the Huskies head on their longest road trip of the year with a Thursday, Oct. 12 matchup at DePaul and then wrap up the trip with a Sunday, Oct. 15 match against the Butler Bulldogs.
