Huskies to Host SCSU in Exhibition Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The second-ranked UConn women's basketball team hosts Division II Southern Connecticut State in an exhibition in Gampel Pavilion at 1 p.m.
The game will air locally on The WAX (WWAX). It will also be available to stream for free everywhere on UConn+. Saturday's game will be broadcast through the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).
Saturday's exhibition will mark the UConn debuts for four Huskies and the long-awaited return of another. Freshmen KK Arnold, Qadence Samuels and Ashlynn Shade will suit up for their first games. Redshirt freshman Ice Brady, who missed last season to an injury, will finally make her UConn debut.
Redshirt junior Paige Bueckers, the 2021 National Player of the Year, returns to action Saturday after missing the 2022-23 season.
Bueckers was named the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year and an AP Preseason All-American. She and senior Aaliyah Edwards were named to the Wade Trophy watch list and the Naismith Player of the Year watch list.
Edwards, senior Nika Mühl and junior Azzi Fudd were tabbed Preseason All-BIG EAST while KK Arnold was selected as the conference's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
The Huskies were picked as the BIG EAST Conference favorites in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
UConn is ranked second in both the AP and WBCA preseason polls.
Southern was picked to finish fourth in the 2023-24 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Owls went 17-11 overall and 11-9 in the NE10 in 2022-23.
The Huskies officially begin the 2023-24 season next Wednesday against Dayton in the XL Center at 7 p.m. Tickets to the game are available HERE.
