Huskies to Host Louisville in Top-20 Matchup

STORRS, Conn. – The 17th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (6-3) hosts No. 19 Louisville (10-1) in the XL Center Sunday at noon. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 WUCS).
The Huskies will celebrate UConn Eras on Saturday. The team will wear throwback uniforms as we celebrate all the memorable UConn Eras. A limited number of UConn Eras t-shirts will be available on the concourse in section 123 and fans can make friendship bracelets ahead of the game. In honor of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, UConn will play her top songs throughout the game.
Louisville is UConn's second-straight top-25 opponent after playing No. 24 North Carolina last Sunday. Three of UConn's next five games are against ranked opponents (No. 18 Louisville, No. 19 Marquette, No. 20 Creighton).
UConn picked up a top-25 win, beating North Carolina, 76-64, in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase last Sunday. Redshirt junior Paige Bueckers was sensational for the Huskies, scoring 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting. Bueckers added a career-high four blocks and three steals. Senior Aaliyah Edwards had her second-straight double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. the Tar Heels.
Paige Bueckers was named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Ashlynn Shade was tabbed Freshman of the Week after helping the Huskies to two wins. Bueckers averaged 20.5 points, 3.0 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 76.2 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from three-point range. Shade went off for a personal-best 17 points vs. Ball State on 7-for-14 shooting. Against North Carolina, she had eight points, four rebounds and two assists. Shade started both games for the Huskies.
UConn is 18-3 all-time vs. Louisville. The teams last met on Dec. 19, 2021, a 69-64 win for the Cardinals. Caroline Ducharme led UConn with 24 points as the Huskies had just seven players available.
Louisville beat Morehead State, 74-48, on Wednesday. This season, Kiki Jefferson leads the Cardinals with 12.1 points. Head coach Jeff Walz is in his 17th season at Louisville.
Saturday's game is UConn's first of three contests in five games. The Huskies return to XL on Monday to host Butler in the BIG EAST opener. UConn travels to Canada to take on Toronto Metropolitan on Wednesday for Aaliyah Edwards' homecoming.
