No. 17 Huskies to Open BIG EAST Play vs. Butler

STORRS, Conn. – The 17th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (7-3) begins BIG EAST Conference play vs. Butler (7-3) Monday in the XL Center at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (97-9 WUCS).
UConn will celebrate Husky Holidays vs. the Bulldogs. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday attire and sing along to holiday hits. The Huskies will give away one special item per quarter to celebrate the holiday season – enter to win at the marketing table.
The Huskies had their most complete performance of the season with an 86-62 win over No. 18 Louisville Saturday. Graduate student Aubrey Griffin had a season-high 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting and added five rebounds and four steals. Senior Aaliyah Edwards also had a great shooting game, scoring 22 on 10-of-12 shooting with seven rebounds.
The Huskies led 28-27 after the first quarter. UConn outscored Louisville 58-35 the rest of the game, including 40-20 in the second half.
Butler last played on Dec. 10, an 84-51 win over Chicago State. This season, Caroline Strande leads the Bulldogs with 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Head coach Austin Parkinson is in his second season at Butler.
UConn is 5-0 all-time vs. Butler. The teams last met on Jan. 21, 2023, a 79-39 win for the Huskies. Edwards led the game with 20 points. This is the only regular-season meeting between the teams this season as the BIG EAST moved to 18 league games.
The Huskies play their third game in five days on Wednesday. UConn travels to Canada to face Toronto Metropolitan in Edwards' homecoming game. The game will air on FS2 at 6 p.m.
