No. 11 Huskies Take on No. 10 Texas Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The 11th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (4-2) travels to No. 10 Texas (8-0) for the Jimmy V Women's Classic on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The game will air on ABC and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 WUCS).
This is the Huskies' 14th appearance in the Jimmy V event. UConn is 10-3 all-time in the Jimmy V Classic. Named for Jim Valvano, the Jimmy V Classic annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The Huskies finished off the Cayman Island Classic with a 71-63 win over Kansas last Saturday. Redshirt junior Paige Bueckers led UConn with 22 points while graduate student Aubrey Griffin had 20 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Ashlynn Shade made her first career start vs. the Jayhawks.
UConn is 10-0 all-time vs. Texas. The teams last faced off on Nov. 14, 2022, in Gampel Pavilion, an 83-76 win for UConn. Azzi Fudd led the Huskies with 32 points in the game.
This is the fifth-straight top-15 matchup between UConn and Texas. In seven of the teams' previous 10 meetings, both teams have been ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll.
Texas moved to 8-0 with a 112-74 win over Oral Roberts on Wednesday. Taylor Jones leads the Longhorns with 17.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 73.2 percent. Texas ranks seventh nationally with 91.8 points per game. Head coach Vic Schaefer is in his fourth season at Texas.
UConn is ranked 11th in the most recent 2023 Associated Press poll. The Huskies have been ranked in the AP poll for 568 consecutive weeks, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion next Wednesday to host Ball State. The game will feature senior Nika Mühl vs. her sister, Hana, who is a sophomore on the Cardinals' roster. The Mühls parents will travel from Zagreb, Croatia, for the game. Tickets are available HERE.
UConn is hosting a toy drive at the Ball State game. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unopened toy to donate. Drop offs will be available at each Gampel entrance.
