SB Opens the 2023 season at the Buzz Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. – The UConn softball team is set to open the 2023 season at the Buzz Classic Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech. All games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
The Huskies will open the weekend with a doubleheader against the host school Georgia Tech on Friday, February 10th at 4:30pm and 7:00pm. The Yellow Jackets finished last season with a 38-18 overall record, finishing seventh in the ACC.
On Saturday, UConn will have a pair of matchups starting with North Texas at 11:30am and then UIC to follow at 2:00pm. North Texas finished last season with a 37-16 overall record, winning the Conference USA Tournament Championship. UIC was 13-32 in the 2022 campaign.
The Huskies will close out the weekend against Saint Francis on Sunday at 9:00am. The Red Flash finished last season with a 37-18 overall record, winning the NEC Conference regular season and conference tournament.
UConn is coming off a BIG EAST regular season title last season finishing with a 20-4 record in conference play, and a 38-18 overall record.
The Huskies return two all-conference players in sophomore, Lexi Hastings and junior, Jana Sanden. Hastings is coming off an impressive freshman campaign where she batted .318 with 28 runs batted in. Sanden, a previous BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2021, was a mainstay in the heart of the Huskies lineup last season. She finished second on the team with 37 runs batted in.
