UConn Faces Villanova and Georgetown this weekend Ahead of Senior Day

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team is set to face two Big East Conference matchups ahead of senior day with Villanova in Manchester on Saturday at Magic Lincer Tennis Academy and the senior day match against Georgetown in Storrs on Sunday.
The senior day ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. EST before warmup at 12 p.m. EST where there will be a recognition of the four seniors; Denise Lai, Doga Selen Takunyaci, Caroline Cook, and Kyra Foster.
Heading into the matchups, UConn stands at 7-7 overall and 1-2 in Big East play. The Huskies fell to Sacred Heart on Wednesday 5-2. Last time out, Maria Constantinou stepped up at first singles taking a straight set win going 6-3, 6-2. Constantinou also won with her doubles partner, Caroline Cook, at second doubles winning 6-4.
Scouting the Wildcats
Entering the matchup, Villanova is 4-10 overall. Last match, the Wildcats won 6-1 against Loyola University Michigan on Wednesday. Maggie Gehrig went 2-0 on the day in doubles and singles winning 6-3 with her doubles partner, Emi Callahan, and then taking a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win at third singles.
Scouting the Hoyas
Entering the matchup, Georgetown is 9-6 overall. Last match, the Hoyas fell short to St. John's 4-3 on Sunday. Ashley Kennedy and Paige Gilbert both pulled out three setters as Kennedy won 6-3, 3-6, 10-4 and Gilbert won 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.
First serve on Saturday against Villanova is at 2 p.m. EST and first serve on Sunday against Georgetown is at 1 p.m. EST.
