CHICAGO, Ill. – The UConn softball team (31-13) lost a heartbreaker to DePaul on Saturday afternoon, 3-2. The Blue Demons hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to hand the Huskies their first BIG EAST series loss since the 2021 season.

Payton Kinney started in the circle for the Huskies, tossing four scoreless innings, with three strikeouts.

UConn scored the game's first run in the second inning. After Rosie Garcia got on off a leadoff walk, Garcia worked her way into scoring position for Taylor Zatyk to bring her in on a groundout, making it 1-0 Huskies.

Grace Jenkins doubled UConn's lead in the third inning with her team leading fourteenth double of the season, bringing home Lexi Hastings, extending the lead to 2-0.

Hope Jenkins came in relief for Kinney in the fifth inning, finishing out the game in the circle for the Huskies.

DePaul tied the game at two in the fifth inning on a two run single.

UConn had opportunities to score as they got the leadoff runner on in the sixth and seventh innings but could not get the go ahead run across.

The Huskies will close out the series tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm EST.
