OMAHA - The No. 9 UConn baseball team (38-12, 13-4 BIG EAST) wraps up the regular season with a three-game series at Creighton (24-22, 9-9 BIG EAST) beginning on Thursday, May 18 at Charles Schwab Field.
The series opener will be on FS1 with a 7:03 p.m. first pitch. Game two will be a 7 p.m. ET on Friday night on FloSports and the series finale will be on Sunday, May 20 at 1 p.m. ET on the BIG EAST Digital Network. All three games can be heard on MIXLR with Chris Jones on the call.Â
The Huskies enter the weekend with a half game lead over Xavier in the BIG EAST standings. The Huskies have already clinched a top-two seed and spot in the four-team BIG EAST Championship next week at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
UConn will play Creighton for the first time in Omaha and will be the first visit for the Huskies since its last College World Series trip in 1979. Charles Schwab Field, the home field for the Bluejays, plays host to the College World Series.Â
The Huskies have currently won 38 games this season and have an opportunity to reach the 40-win mark in the regular season for the second-straight year (43 in 2022). It could be the first time in program history that the Huskies have had back-to-back 40-win regular seasons.
David Smith is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday after missing four games due to injury. With the team captain back in the lineup, the Huskies will have its Opening Day lineup fully healthy for the first time since March 3 at FAU.Â
UConn has won nine of its last 10 games but is looking to bounce back from a loss in its series finale against Butler. The loss snapped a season-long nine-game win streak.
