Mackenzie Keyes Named Assistant Softball Coach

STORRS, Conn. – Mackenzie Keyes joins the UConn softball staff as an assistant coach, announced by head coach Laura Valentino on Monday afternoon.
Keyes comes from Trinity College, where she served as the Head Coach for one season. Under Keyes, Trinity qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the eleventh time.
"I am very excited to welcome Mackenzie Keyes to our UConn family," said Valentino. "I am confident Mackenzie's competitiveness, high expectations, and knowledge will fuel the success of our offense. I'm looking forward to having Mackenzie as a part of our championship culture and I know her work ethic will help us continue to compete for championships in the Big East."
Before Trinity, Keyes served as an assistant coach at Williams College for five seasons helping the Ephs win the 2018 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title, NCAA Regional championships in 2018 and 2019, and an NCAA Super Regional in 2019, which resulted in an appearance in the 2019 National Championship Tournament.
Keyes earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Central Connecticut State University in 2016, where she helped the Blue Devils win conference titles in 2013 and 2015. Additionally, she earned a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she was a graduate assistant in athletic communications.
"I am humbled and grateful to Coach Valentino for the opportunity to contribute to the UConn softball program and staff.", said Keyes. "It was evident throughout this process that UConn has created an environment that values competitiveness while supporting all involved in the program. I look forward to being a part of it!"
