No. 13 UConn to Host Providence in Hartford Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The 13th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (12-3, 4-0 BIG EAST) returns to Hartford Wednesday to host Providence (8-8, 2-1) at 6:30 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
All five starters scored in double digits as UConn beat Georgetown, 83-55, last Sunday. The Huskies scored 33 points off Georgetown's 22 turnovers. UConn had 20 fast break points and 40 points in the paint. UConn had 23 assists on 32 made baskets vs. the Hoyas. Senior Nika Mühl led with eight assists.
Freshman Ashlynn Shade was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the third time this season on Monday. In two wins last week, Shade averaged 17.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60.0% from the field.
The Huskies are 45-21 all-time vs. Providence. UConn has won the last 33 meetings between the teams. UConn alumna Kaili McLaren '10 is in her first year as an assistant at Providence.
Providence fell to St. John's, 55-48, last Saturday. This season, Olivia Olsen leads the Friars with 14.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Head coach Erin Batth is in her first season at Providence.
