Huskies Set for Hockey East Battle Against Minutemen

» The Huskies are set to begin their first two game Hockey East weekend series with a
matchup against the Massachusetts Minutemen. The Huskies will travel to Amherst for
Friday Oct. 18 before welcoming the Minutemen to Storrs Oct.19.
» The Huskies offense continues to produce. The Huskies have scored 18 total goals in the
five game span.
» The Huskies have already had a taste of Hockey East action, facing off against no.3
Boston University Friday Oct. 18. The Huskies fell to BU by a final of 4-2.
» Freshman Tommy Heaney made his first career start against no.3 BU. Heaney finished
with 25 total saves.
» The Jake's: Junior Jake Percival and sophomore Jake Richard have made their presence
felt early in the season. Both Jake's are leading the team with 4 goals and 2 assists for 6
total points.
» The Huskies have received a point from 19 total skaters. Of the 19, 7 are new members
of the Ice Bus.
» The Huskies new skaters continue to make an impact. Freshman Trey Scott scored the
game winning goal Saturday in his first career appearance against Holy Cross.
» Five on Five Hockey has been a strength for the Huskies as they have scored 13 of their
18 total goals.
» Despite the number of new skaters joining this year's team, the Huskies returned experienced players, including Hudson Schandor, John Spetz, Tom Messineo, Jake Richard
and Jake Percival
» Despite adding 14 new faces, in that group comes 4 transfers from NCAA D1 schools.
Hugh Larkin joins UConn from Western Michigan, Nick Carabin joins the Huskies from
Princeton, Tyler Muszelik from New Hampshire, and Viking Gustafsson Nyberg comes
from Northern Michigan.
» Huskies in the NHL: Ruslan Iskhakov and Yan Kuznetsov became the 6th and 7th
Huskies to reach the pros, having most recently been called up by the New York Islanders and Calgary Flames. They join, Todd Krygier, Cole Schneider, Max Letunov, Adam
Huska, and Tage Thompson as former Huskies to make it to the league.
