No. 11 UConn, No. 1 South Carolina to Face Off Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The 11th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (20-4) faces its toughest test of the season in its non-conference finale at No. 1 South Carolina (22-0) Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will air on ESPN and the UConn Sports Network (FOX Sports 97.9).
Senior Aaliyah Edwards led the Huskies past Seton Hall, 67-34, on Wednesday for head coach Geno Auriemma's 1,200th career win. Edwards scored18 points on 8-for-10 shooting and added a season-high 15 rebounds. Freshman Ashlynn Shade scored 17 points with five three pointers and redshirt junior Paige Bueckers had 13 points, five assists and three steals. The Pirates' 34 points is tied for the fewest allowed by UConn this season (Toronto Metropolitan).
Auriemma became just the third coach in Division I men's and women's basketball to reach 1,200. With a 1,200-160 career record, Auriemma was the fastest coach to the milestone in his 1360th career game.
UConn is 9-4 all-time vs. South Carolina. The Gamecocks have won the last three meetings between the teams.
The Huskies are 8-10 all-time vs. the top-ranked team in the nation. The last five No. 1 teams UConn has faced have been the Gamecocks.
South Carolina moved to 22-0 on the season with an 83-45 win over Missouri on Thursday. The Gamecocks lead the nation in blocks per game (8.6), field goal percentage defense (30.9), scoring margin (35.0) and three point percentage (40.9). Head coach Dawn Staley is in her 16th season at South Carolina.
