Softball drops weekend finale to Seattle

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UConn softball team fell to the Seattle Redhawks, 5-0 in their final game at the Black and Gold Classic.
Meghan O'Neil got the start in the weekend finale for the Huskies. She went 2.2 innings giving up three runs, adding three strikeouts.
The Huskies offense was shut down by Seattle's starting pitcher, Nicola Simpson as she tossed a complete game shutout, only giving up three hits to UConn's dynamic lineup.
Seattle opened the scoring in the third inning, scoring three runs on five hits.
Hope Jenkins came in relief for O'Neil in the third inning going 2.1 innings for the Huskies.
Seattle added to their lead in the sixth inning with a two run home run, making it 5-0.
Sydnee Koosh came in relief for Jenkins in the sixth inning, making her third appearance of the season. She finished out the game in the circle for the Huskies.
Up Next:
UConn will return to action next weekend as they head to NC State for a five game tournament. The Huskies open the tournament Friday, February 16 against Elon and Campbell.
