Huskies Set to Host Stony Brook and Rutgers This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team is set to face Stony Brook and Rutgers at their home indoor courts at Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester, Conn., on Friday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 18.
The Huskies are 4-2 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play. Last time out, UConn faced a challenging conference opponent in Xavier falling 7-0 on Saturday, Feb. 10 at home, dropping their first home loss this season. Leading the way this season thus far has been junior Isabel Petri Bere with a team-best singles record of 4-1 playing at the second and third singles positions. Also, Petri Bere is showing out in doubles play with first-year partner Caroline Hinshaw as they have a team-best doubles record of 5-1 at the second and third doubles positions, including a 4-0 record at third doubles.
Scouting Stony Brook and Rutgers
Entering the matchup, the Stony Brook Seawolves are 1-2 overall this season. Last time out, the Seawolves won 5-2 against Fairfield on Saturday, Feb. 10 away. Leading the way thus far this season are doubles pair Darian Perfeliev and Cornelia Bruu-Syversen with an unbeaten record at the third doubles position going 3-0.
UConn faced Stony Brook last season at home, winning 6-1. The Huskies are 5-9 all-time against the Seawolves.
Rutgers enters the matchup with an overall record of 4-2. Last time out, the Scarlett Knights took down Seton Hall 7-0 on Saturday, Feb. 10. Leading the way is Tara Chilton in singles play with a 4-1 singles record at the no. 1 spot. In doubles, Naomi Karki and Arina Valitova have an unbeaten record of 5-0 at the second and third doubles positions.
UConn faced Rutgers two seasons ago falling 7-0. In all-time matchups the Huskies are 1-8.
