Husky Advantage Hosts Student-Athlete Networking Brunch

STORRS – Some 70 UConn student-athletes enjoyed an opportunity to connect with 15 UConn alumni who are also top-notch employers during a Networking Brunch, sponsored by Husky Advantage.
"It was so amazing for all of us," said sophomore volleyball player Ayva Cebollero, a communications major.
The event was set up as a speed-dating style networking event with 6-8 minutes per table, where all the student-athletes were able to interact and ask questions of all alum and employers present. The student-athletes were actively engaged and sought out more career development opportunities post-event.
Doug Elliot, UConn alum and former CEO at The Hartford Insurance Group, had high praise for the whole idea.
"Thanks for inviting me to join some of our Husky student-athletes to engage in discussions about their journey," Elliot said. "You organized and ran a terrific event. I came away energized and so positive about the quality of our kids. I hope I provided some practical thoughts that they will reflect on over the coming days and years while laying out the exciting possibilities ahead for each of them. I have received emails already from a few of them and have several takeaways that I will follow up on. The two hours went by in a flash --- and the energy, spirit and positive attitude in the room was awesome."
