No. 9 Huskies Take on Georgetown in BIG EAST Championship

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – The ninth-ranked and top-seeded UConn women's basketball team (28-5) faces No. 6-seed Georgetown (22-10) for the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament Championship on Monday at 7 p.m. in Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air on FS1 and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
The Huskies are seeking their 29th conference tournament title and 22nd as members of the BIG EAST. This is UConn's 20th straight appearance in a conference tournament finals game.
Redshirt junior Paige Bueckers led the Huskies back to the BIG EAST Tournament championship game with a 58-29 win over No. 5-seed Marquette Sunday. Bueckers had 27 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and four steals vs. the Golden Eagles. In just her second career start, redshirt freshman Ice Brady played all 40 minutes and notched 10 points, five rebounds and two assists.
The Huskies allowed no points in the fourth quarter vs. Marquette, the third time shutting out a team in a quarter in program history (March 19, 2022 vs. Mercer, March 5, 2018 vs. Cincinnati).
The Huskies are 54-6 all-time vs. Georgetown. UConn has won the last 37 meetings between the teams. UConn picked up both regular-season wins between the teams.
No. 6-seed Georgetown advanced to its first BIG EAST Championship game with a 55-46 win over No. 2 Creighton Sunday. This season, BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Year Kelsey Ransom leads Georgetown with 13.7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Georgetown's interim head coach is Darnell Haney.
