CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The UConn softball team lost a close game at Boston College, 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Hallie Siems earned her 17th start of the season in the circle for the Huskies. Siems was brilliant going 6.0 innings giving up one earned run on only one hit with five strikeouts.
The game was a pitcher's duel throughout as the Huskies recorded the game's first hit in the fourth inning. Both teams combined for only four hits on the day.
Siems was dominant through the first five innings carrying a no hit bid into the sixth inning.
Boston College scored the game's only runs in the sixth inning with the first run coming on a pass ball allowing the winning run to score from third base. The Eagles added insurance later in the inning on a bunt single, making it 2-0.
UConn continued to fight but could not get anything going against Boston College's starting pitcher, Halie Pappion as she went the distance in the circle for the Eagles.
