STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (6-2-3, 0-1-2 BIG EAST) lost 3-1 against Georgetown (7-1-3, 3-0-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium.
The Hoyas broke through with the first two goals of the match in the first 11:22.
UConn responded with the ninth goal of the season for junior Chioma Okafor. Abbey Jones found the UConn striker on a long ball pass that set up Okafor with a one-on-one with the keeper.
It is the third-straight game that Okafor has scored in.
The Huskies had opportunities in the first half to find an equalizer but were unable to do so. Okafor found herself at the top of the box with some space in the 27th minute but just sailed her curling shot high to keep it 2-1.
Freshman Taylor Jenkins found an opportunity in the 33rd minute on a feed in the box from senior Sophie McCarthy. Jenkins cut back and fired a left-footed shot just wide.
Lina Dantes started off the second half with a chance inside the six that was saved by the Georgetown keeper.
The score remained the same until the Hoyas captured a two-goal lead with a tally in the 66th minute.
Next up, the Huskies remain at home to play Providence on Thursday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
