STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (7-3-3) is set to host the St. John's Red Storm at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium on Friday, October 17. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm. UConn will honor the 2000 National Championship team at halftime recognizing the 25-year anniversary of the program's third National Championship. TICKETS
UConn is currently on six points in BIG EAST play with a 2-2 record with four critical conference matches remaining in the regular season. St. John's is in third place in the East Division with seven points, posting a 2-1-1 record. FULL STANDINGS
UConn has faced a challenging stretch recently, dropping three of their last four matches after starting the season strong with an unbeaten streak through their first nine games. During this four-game stretch, the Huskies have been outscored 10-6. UConn goalkeeper Kyle Durham leads the conference in saves (63), save percentage (0.808), and saves per game (4.85).
A Look at St. John's
The St. John's Red Storm (6-3-3) have won two-straight matches coming into Friday's match. The Johnnies have earned wins over conference foes, Providence and Akron this season. St. John's is coached by David Masur entering his 35th season in Queens. The Johnnies were selected to finish in third place in the East Division in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Huskies and Johnnies met a season ago, resulting in a 1-1 draw in Queens. The all-time series favors St. John's, 16-15-9. The first match between these two programs came back in 1981 at Morrone Stadium, the Huskies won, 7-0.
