Fagnano, who was previously honored this season for game against FIU, helped lead the Huskies to a 38-23 road win at New England rival Boston College on Saturday. Fagnano, who was also this week's recipient of the New England Football Association Gold Helmet Award, threw for a UConn career high 362 yards and four touchdowns while also running for 25 yards and a score to deliver the Huskies their first road win over a power conference school since the 2012 season.
On the season, he has completed 154 of 226 passes with no interceptions. He has thrown for 1,918 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is the only quarterback in the county with over 200 pass attempts and at least 1500 yards without an interception on the season.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 595 different quarterbacks from 138 schools have been recognized. Forty-nine players have been honored so far in 2025.
