SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn men's basketball junior Silas Demary Jr. has been named to the Preseason Watch List for the 2026 Bob Cousy Award, presented annually by the Naismith Hall of Fame to the country's top point guard. The Naismith is unveiling preseason watch lists for each of its "Starting Five" positional awards this week.
The honor for Demary Jr. comes ahead of the Raleigh native's first season at Connecticut. He spent two seasons at Georgia and was an SEC All-Freshman team selection in 2024. Demary Jr. is coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists for an NCAA Tournament squad. He was recently named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Demary Jr. is seeking to become the fourth Husky all-time to win a Naismith Starting Five honor, with Kemba Walker (2011), Shabazz Napier (2014) and Tristen Newton (2024) all earning the Cousy Award.
