Solo Ball Named To Jerry West Award Watch List

ATLANTA – UConn men's basketball junior Solo Ball has been named to the Preseason Watch List for the 2026 Jerry West Award, presented annually by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation's top shooting guard. The Hall of Fame is announcing preseason watch lists for its "Starting Five" positional awards this week.
Ball is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign that saw the 6-4 sniper more than quadruple his scoring output while starting all 35 contests. The Leesburg, Va. native averaged 14.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 41.4 percent from 3-point range to rank first in the BIG EAST and top-30 nationally. He totaled 99 made 3-pointers, tied for the fourth-most in a season in UConn history.
Earlier this week Silas Demary Jr. was named to the Preseason Watch List for the Bob Cousy award. Ball and Demary Jr. are seeking to join the likes of Cousy Award winners Kemba Walker (2011), Shabazz Napier (2014) and Tristen Newton (2024) as Huskies to take home a Naismith Starting Five honor.
