Joe Fagnano Named to Davey O'Brien Award Weekly Great 8

STORRS, CT - UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano (Williamsport, PA) earned a spot on the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 for Week 11. Fagnano led the Huskies to a 37-34 win over Duke on Saturday, keeping the Huskies a perfect 5-0 at home and improving their record to 7-3 on the season. The National QB of the Week will be announced Tuesday at noon.
Fagnano is joined on this week's list by Micah Alejado from Hawaii, Byrum Brown from USF, Jayden Maiava from USC, Diego Pavia from Vanderbilt, Marcel Reed from Texas A&M, Jake Retzlaff from Tulane and Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele from California.
In Saturday's win, Fagnano completed 28 of 40 for 316 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Huskies. Fagnano took the Huskies down the field in the closing minutes of the game to put the go-ahead touchdown on the board. He connected on 6-of-7 passes on the final drive, capped by a 19-yard touchdown delivery to Skyler Bell with 1:58 to go, to lift the Huskies to their second win this season in the at the end of the fourth.
It was Fagnano's fifth 300-yard passing game this season and fifth-straight game with three or more TD throws. He has thrown 25 touchdowns this season without an interception on his ledger.
Fagnano and the Huskies are back in action this Saturday for their final home game of the season taking on the Air Force Falcons at 12 noon.
