UConn Football Making Noise in National Statistical Rankings

The UConn Huskies are turning heads this season, with multiple players and team categories appearing among the NCAA's statistical elite.
Bell and Fagnano Lead Offensive Surge
Wide receiver Skyler Bell has emerged as one of the nation's most dangerous weapons in the passing game. The dynamic pass-catcher ranks first nationally in receiving touchdowns with 13 and receptions per game at 8.5, while his 85 catches place him tied for first in the country. Bell's 1,081 receiving yards rank second nationally, and he averages 108.1 yards per game, good for second in the nation. His 13 total touchdowns rank seventh nationally.
Quarterback Joe Fagnano has been the catalyst for UConn's aerial attack, distributing the ball with precision and efficiency. The signal-caller ranks second nationally in passing yards with 2,840 and seventh in points responsible for with 164. Fagnano completes 23.6 passes per game, ranking 11th nationally, while his 284.0 passing yards per game places him 10th. His 162.4 passing efficiency rating ranks 11th, and his 19th-ranked completion percentage of .688 demonstrates his accuracy.
Dominant Defense Sets the Tone
UConn linebacker Bryun Parham has been a wrecking ball in the middle of the defense, ranking third in the nation with 10.5 total sacks. He adds 96 total tackles (fourth nationally), 1.45 tackles for loss per game (fifth), and 9.6 tackles per game (14th). As a team, UConn ranks fifth nationally in team sacks with 3.50 per game.
The secondary has also made its presence felt, with cornerback Cam Chadwick picking off four passes to rank eighth nationally in total interceptions.
Team Excellence Across the Board
The Huskies' have been excellent at protecting the football, leading the nation in turnovers lost with just one all season. That ball security has helped the Huskies rank second nationally in turnover margin (1.30). balanced approach shows in their team rankings.
The offense has been efficient and explosive, ranking 16th in scoring offense at 36.9 points per game, 17th in fewest penalties per game at 4.60, 18th in total offense at 456.7 yards per game, and 18th in team passing efficiency at 161.07.
Running back Cam Edwards has provided balance to the attack, rushing for 866 yards (15th nationally) with 10 touchdowns (17th).
Special teams excellence extends to kicker Chris Freeman, who ranks second nationally with 97 total points scored, eighth in scoring at 9.7 points per game, and 12th in field goals per game at 1.80.
