No. 1 UConn Travels to Butler Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (12-0, 3-0) is back in action at Butler (7-6, 1-2) Sunday at 4 p.m. in Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The game will air on TNT/truTV and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
UConn has two Indiana natives on its roster: junior Ashlynn Shade (Noblesville) and redshirt sophomore Ayanna Patterson (Fort Wayne).
UConn beat No. 11 Iowa, 90-64, on Dec. 20 in the Women's Champions Classic at Barclays Center. Sophomore Sarah Strong scored 20 of her 23 points in the first half while graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 21 of her 27 points in the second half. The Huskies scored 41 points off 26 Hawkeye turnovers.
After leading UConn to a 2-0 week, Strong was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Blanca Quiñonez was named the conference's Freshman of the Week. This is Strong's sixth career BIG EAST Player of the Week honor and Quiñonez's fourth Freshman of the Week honor.
UConn is 8-0 all-time vs. Butler. The teams last met on Feb. 22 in Indianapolis, an 86-47 win for UConn.
Butler last played on Dec. 19, a 64-58 win over Xavier. This season, Lily Zeinstra leads the Bulldogs with 10.9 points per game. Head coach Austin Parkinson is in his fourth season at Butler.
