KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (21-3) fell at No. 19 Tennessee (17-5), 80-76, Thursday evening.
Freshman Sarah Strong led UConn with 18 points and nine rebounds. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had 14 points and eight assists.
UConn led at halftime, 39-37. The Lady Volunteers took a 59-54 lead at the end of the third quarter, but the Huskies were able to fight back in the fourth, tying the game at 74-74 with two minutes left.
The Huskies are back in action at Providence (9-15, 2-9 BIG EAST) on Sunday at noon.
