Huskies Kick off 2025 Campaign against New Hampshire and #9 Saint Joseph's

STORRS, Conn. - Â The UConn women's field hockey team is set to kick off their 2025 campaign with a weekend road trip against New Hampshire and no.9 St. Joseph's. Both games will be held in New Hampshire, with UConn facing New Hampshire Friday Aug. 29 and St. Joseph's Aug. 30.
The Huskies are coming off an impressive 2024 campaign posting a 17-4 overall record and a 6-1 record in BIG EAST Action. The 2024 season also featured their 21 Big East regular season and Tournament Championships, and a return to the NCAA Tournament as the third overall seed. UConn lost their top scorers in Sophie Perschk and Juul Sauer but look to maintain a top ranked offense with the returning roster and newcomers.
The Huskies will open the 2025 season with a matchup against the University of New Hampshire at 3pm on August 29, followed by a matchup against no. 9 Saint Joseph's on Saturday at 2pm. These three teams last faced off to open the 2024 season which UConn came away victorious in both matchups. The Huskies opened the 2024 season with an impressive 5-4 OT win over Sain Joseph's and followed that with a 6-2 win over New Hampshire.
UConn received pre-season recognition from the BIG East, picked to finish first in the pre-season coaches' poll while also featuring three athletes, Natalie McKenna, Julia Bressler, and Sol Simone on the All-Big East preseason team. Additionally, Sol Simone was tabbed as Preseason BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year. Â On a national scale, Sol Simone, Juana Garcia, Milaw Clause, Olivia Machiavelli, Olivia McKenna, Natalie McKenna and Julia Bressler have been named to the NFHCA Collegiate Watchlist.
